Test Details

Prolactin is a hormone produced by the Pituitary gland in the brain. Prolactin test in females helps to investigate unexplained flow of breast milk, abnormal nipple discharge, absence of menstrual periods and infertility. In men this test helps to diagnose the cause of decreased libido and erectile dysfunction. It is also used to detect and monitor a pituitary tumor that produces prolactin (prolactinoma). Measures prolactin hormone levels in blood- Helps diagnose hyperprolactinemia- Supports evaluation of pituitary disorders.
