Insulin is a hormone produced by pancreas in your body. It helps the body to convert food into energy. After we eat, insulin makes sugar/glucose to move from the blood into the cells to produce fat, protein & sugar. When we need more energy, insulin helps us to use fat, protein & sugar that we have stored. Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not make enough insulin to meet its daily need or does not properly use the insulin it makes. Type 1 diabetes is due to deficiency of insulin as the cells of pancreas producing insulin are destroyed. Type 2 diabetes is due to resistance of the body to the action of insulin. This test is used for the management of diabetes. Helps assess postprandial glucose regulation- Aids in diagnosing insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus- Supports evaluation of reactive hypoglycemia- Assists in monitoring insulin therapy effectiveness.
