Test Details

Measuring C-peptide in blood is an accurate way to find out how much Insulin your body is making. Insulin is produced by pancreas and it goes into the blood to make the sugar enter the cells to produce energy. Thus Insulin regulates sugar levels. C-peptide test helps to find the cause of low blood sugar levels, manage diabetes treatment, monitor treatment & identify the type of diabetes you have. High level of C-peptide means that your body is making too much of Insulin as in Type 2 diabetes & Cushing syndrome. Low level of C-peptide means that your body is not making enough Insulin as in Type 1 diabetes & Addison's disease. This test is not used to diagnose diabetes. Measures CPeptide levels in fasting serum- Helps assess insulin production- Supports differentiation between type 1 and type 2 diabetes- Aids in pancreatic function evaluation.
