Myasthenia gravis is a disease which leads to weakness and rapid fatigue of any of the muscles under your voluntary control. It is caused by a breakdown in the normal communication between your nerves & muscles. In this disease, the body forms antibodies to its own cells. Presence of these antibodies helps to find out if the disease was present since birth (antibodies absent) or was acquired later on in life (antibodies present). Though this disease can affect people of any age, Helps in diagnosing myasthenia gravis- Supports differentiation between autoimmune and congenital myasthenic syndromes- Useful in monitoring disease progression- Aids in assessing treatment response to immunotherapy.
