High values suggest blood clotting condition indicating frequent formation & breakdown of clots as seen in deep veins (Deep vein thrombosis), clot in lungs (Pulmonary embolism), Supports evaluation of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC)- Useful in ruling out thromboembolic events
